Mindfulness Teachers Retreat
Members Retreat for Mindfulness Teachers
Recognising projection
4-9th March 2022
With Heather Regan-Addis
The teacher members retreat will explore how psychological projection plays out in our teaching practice. We will explore positive projection, where we are unable to acknowledge our potential as a mindfulness teacher and so project our potential onto other teachers by telling ourselves how wonderful they are and how we will never be as good as them and in the process we disempower ourselves. We will also explore negative projection in which we blame our course participants for things ‘going wrong’ in our classes or where our participants blame us for how the practice has made them feel. Through recognising projection we can see more clearly the dynamics that are unfolding in our mindfulness teaching and recognise the suffering that underlies these dynamics. In this way we can find deeper compassion for ourselves and for our course participants, especially when the going gets tough.
This retreat will encompass sessions from the membership weekend beginning on the evening of Friday 4th March and continues from Sunday afternoon until Wednesday 9th March in the afternoon. This retreat will meet BAMBA requirements for our annual retreat as mindfulness teachers and we will be maintaining silence for 50% of our waking hours.
This retreat is suitable for teacher members, ie. those who have been assessed as ready to teach on the MBLC retreat.
