In my weekly blog, Heather’s Musings, I write about what has been happening in my life and how I am applying my mindfulness, compassion and insight practice to it. The process of writing the blog is often an opportunity for me to gain more clarity and recognise what is happening and I find it highly beneficial. My wish is that it is also helps other meditation practitioners who are on a similar journey.
The opinions and beliefs that I express in this blog are my own and do not represent the opinion of the Mindfulness Association.
Over the last two days I have been doing a training course on the MBI-TAC: Mindfulness Based Interventions – Teaching Assessment Criteria. It was wonderfully facilitated by Rebecca Crane and it was an opportunity to share practice and experience about what it is to be a Mindfulness teacher with other experienced practitioners and teachers. This week many of us are feeling quite fearful at the prospect of a Trump Presidency, another winter of austerity and the uncertainty of Brexit. It is worth reflecting that the earth is populated by the same people this week as it was last week and recognising that the majority of people on this earth…

Vidyamala will be speaking at our conference next year, for more details please click here. The concept of over-efforting, as I understand it, is that due…
Dear all, Choden is out of retreat this month, after one year, and I am very much looking forward to re-connecting with him and finding out about his experience on retreat. Also, I am very much looking forward to working with him again, as I have missed him this year. Choden is the expert behind…
Since we set up the MA, we have been trying to support our course participants in their Mindfulness practice, recognising that only by practicing will we become less neurotic and more able to flourish in our lives. This was our motivation for the membership and I think that particularly the online sits are helping with…
A few weeks ago, I came across some teachings by an ancient Indian Buddhist teacher called Tilopa. It ‘s a very brief teaching about Mindfulness and quite secular, so I want to share it with you. Tilopa’s 6 words of advice: Don’t recall– let go of what has passed Don’t imagine– let go of the…
I have had a happy weekend at Samye Ling with our year 2 MSc students who happen to be beginning their Insight module. Coming back together after the summer break feels like a reunion of old and valued friends that are a bit more chilled and happy than when we first met together one year…
