JOINING THE UK LISTING OF MINDFULNESS TEACHERS

The Mindfulness Association is a participating member of the UK Network of Mindfulness Based Teacher Training Organisations. Our teacher trainers adhere to the Good Practice Guidelines for Trainers and we encourage the teachers we train to adhere to the Good Practice Guidelines for Teachers. The Mindfulness Association offers a comprehensive Mindfulness Teacher Training pathway meeting the best practice in the UK and culminating in teacher assessment, using the Mindfulness Based Interventions- Teaching Assessment Criteria (MBI-TAC)

Pathway to join the UK Listing of Mindfulness Teachers as an MBLC teacher

Complete the Mindfulness Level 1 course or the first year of the University of Aberdeen’s MSc in Mindfulness Studies (including attending the two Mindfulness Course Weekends). Have a regular and sustained daily mindfulness practice including the core practices of bodyscan, mindful movement and mindfulness sitting practice. Complete the Teaching Skills Level 1 course or complete the teaching skills training at the year end retreats for year 1 and 2 of the University of Aberdeen’s MSc in Studies in Mindfulness. Teach informal mindfulness sessions under supervision for 6 months. Complete the five day MBLC Teaching Skills retreat. At the end of this retreat successful participants will be awarded a certificate of ‘Readiness to Teach’ (equivalent to advanced beginner on MBI-TAC). Delivery of two MBLC 8 week courses, as a sole facilitator or as a co-facilitator, while keeping a teaching journal and while having at least monthly mindfulness supervision, on a one-to-one basis or as group supervision. Ongoing adherence to the UK Good Practice Guidelines and the Mindfulness Association’s Policy for Teachers.
