Nature as Refuge Weekend
18-19 July 2026
Step away from your everyday life and spend a restorative weekend immersed in the beauty of the natural world. Set amongst stunning gardens, a rose garden, an arboretum and a wildflower meadow, this course invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and discover how nature itself can become a powerful teacher of mindfulness.
Guided by the natural gifts of the summer season and accompanied by the solid presence of majestic trees, we’ll spend most of our time outdoors, sitting and absorbing the healing power of nature. We’ll engage with unique land art, including a labyrinth and a ‘spiral orbit’ which we will walk mindfully with gentle intention-setting practices inspired by the symbolic forms. In this way, you’ll be supported in reconnecting with yourself and the wonder and beauty of nature.
This is an opportunity to find a sense of sanctuary, to step out of busyness or disconnection, and to rediscover meaning and joy, as nature sets you to rights. In this way nature offers a fresh perspective on how to live with greater balance, awareness and ease.
By aligning with the moment-to-moment experience of being in nature, you may find space for insight, renewal and confidence, through remembering that nature is always there as a refuge, whatever goings on are going on in your life.
This course is open to all, beginners and experienced mindfulness practitioners alike. It counts as CPD for teachers too. For those new to the Mindfulness Association this weekend can stand alone or form the start of your in-depth mindfulness training pathway with the MA being the equivalent of Level One, Weekend One.
