It’s often been said that Mindfulness and Compassion are two wings of a bird. You cannot have one without the other. This is especially true in times of difficulty.

For a lot of people, their first introduction to mindfulness training is in part a result  of searching for an approach to ease their suffering and enhance their experience of life. Indeed, mindfulness encourages well-being and a quality of ‘being with’ whatever is present, rather than resorting to avoidance behaviour or suppression: a coping mechanism that can often exasperate suffering. However, ‘being with’ or facing our pain can be quite scary and uncomfortable. This is where the importance of developing a kind attitude towards ourselves and cultivating self-compassion/compassion becomes integral.

The 8 week Mindfulness Based Living Course (MBLC) developed and delivered by the Mindfulness Association and its trained teachers incorporates kindness practices alongside the formal mindfulness training that comprise the course. However, we are pleased to announce that we are launching a brand new 8 week Compassion Based Living Course (CBLC) as a means of further development into the compassionate self.
